The girls are away in California so the boys have been left up to their own devices.
Thursday:
We popped down to Book Club but after a couple of drinks rain stopped play so we headed home. Just as we walked down the path to home lightening hit the lamp post right next to our house causing it to explode and a power cut all down our road. Best thing was we both got to see the explosion!
With nothing for it we had to go out for Pad Thi.
Friday:
After school I headed down town with the band and for the Caymas Pan Explosion. A cracking contest on the harbour side, a lovely breeze off the sea and a beautiful sunset.

Band contest over and the kids collected I stayed for the fireworks…

And then the street party really got started with the Soca Monarch Contest. Soca is a style of Caribbean dance music particularly associated with carnival. It also involves a lot of shaking of bottoms and grinding…

Saturday:
Breakfast with the gang watching the royal wedding! Bacon baps and scones. It was off the hook!

Bishop Michale Curry was awesome.
Then down town for a dive at the Lobster Pot and Hamburger Reef. The tarpon were huge! Boys’ weekend back on track.

Up to the Lone Star for lunch and to wait for the Caymas Carnival to come past…

It was all very colourful and far rowdier than Batabano.

James was jumped on by one of the carnival goers and experienced a soca grind first hand. I say hand… he seems unscathed by the experience.
