A week of ‘farewells’

July 2016. Our final preparations are well under way, most of the house is packed or in storage and we are camping in what, for the past twelve years, has been our family home with just two weeks to go.

We all finished school this week, me, Matthew, after the best part of nine years as a Principal, Victoria after twenty-one years as a teacher, seven years as a specialist reading teacher, James after three years at secondary and Poppy finishing her primary education.

It has been a week of assemblies and parties, songs and poems, tears and laughter as the friends we have worked and learned with for so long wish us well for our forthcoming adventure our leap into the unknown…
